Still reliable after years

I've been a Grammarly Premium subscriber for several years now, and I just renewed my annual plan. This experience was consistent with my previous ones. The service is always reliable, and I depend on it daily for my business communications. I primarily use the Grammarly for Outlook add-in, and it integrates perfectly. The suggestions are generally spot-on, though I do appreciate that you can ignore them if they don't fit your style. It's just a solid, dependable tool that hasn't let me down. That's why I keep coming back.

Good for quick checks

Used Grammarly for a quick project. The Punctuation Checker was helpful. It caught my mistakes quickly. Easy to use. Got what I needed done.

Helped with my emails

So I got Grammarly for my work emails, you know, just to sound more professional. It's pretty cool. The Grammarly Browser Extension for Chrome just sits there and checks as I type. Caught a bunch of stupid mistakes I always make. Made things easier. No complaints, really. It just works.

Decent tool, some minor issues

I signed up for Grammarly Premium last month to help with some reports for work. The grammar and spell-checking features are really solid, and it caught a few things I definitely would have missed, especially with the Punctuation Checker. The Tone Detector is also surprisingly useful for emails. My main gripe is that it sometimes flags things that are perfectly fine, so you have to double-check. And I wish the Grammarly for Microsoft Word add-in felt a bit more seamless, it can be a little clunky at times. Overall, it's a good investment for anyone who writes a lot, but not quite perfect.

Good for academic writing

I've been using Grammarly Free for a while and finally decided to upgrade to Premium for my college essays. The upgrade process was straightforward through the website, just a few clicks. I got the annual plan. Delivery isn't really a thing since it's software, but access was immediate. The Plagiarism Checker was a lifesaver, genuinely helped me feel more confident about submitting my papers. It integrates well with Google Docs, which is where I do most of my writing. I did have a quick question about billing after I subscribed, and their support got back to me within a few hours, which was good. The Essay Checker features pointed out areas where I could strengthen my arguments, not just fix grammar. It's definitely improved my writing for sure. Just make sure to review its suggestions; it's not always 100% accurate, but it gets you most of the way there.

Worth the discount

I was looking for a writing assistant and saw they had a 20% off annual plan offer. As a first-time buyer, I wanted to make sure I was getting a good deal. The price point with the discount felt really reasonable for a full year of Grammarly Premium. I use it mostly for the Grammar Checker and Spell Checker on my personal projects. It's definitely saved me from some embarrassing typos. Without the discount, I might have hesitated, but it felt like solid value for money this way. Happy with the purchase.

Does Grammarly do monthly plans or is it all annual subscriptions? Just trying to figure out if I can try it for a month without committing to a whole year.

S Sarah F. 2 months ago
I think they do offer monthly, but it's way more expensive per month than just getting the annual plan. Like, significantly more.

M Mia P. 2 months ago
You can do monthly, but honestly, the annual plan is where the real savings are at. You could always try the free version to see if you even like it first?

Hey, I'm thinking about getting Grammarly Premium but not sure if it's really worth the money. Anyone here use it for academic stuff, like essays or papers?

D Derek Foster 3 months ago
Yeah, totally worth it for school. It catches so many little things, especially with punctuation and sentence structure. Saved my butt on a few deadlines.

I've used it for my thesis, and it was a lifesaver. The plagiarism checker alone is worth it, gives you a bit more peace of mind before submitting. Plus, if you're a student, check for a discount, they usually have one.

Is it easy to cancel Grammarly if I decide it's not for me? And do they do refunds if I cancel early, like if I signed up for a year but only used it for a couple months?

R Renee 2 months ago
Yeah, cancelling is pretty straightforward, you just go into your account settings. I think refunds are usually only for like, within the first week or something, not prorated for unused time after that, but check their policy to be sure.

I cancelled an annual plan once and it was super easy, no hassle. As for refunds, I'm pretty sure you only get it if you cancel really early in the subscription period, like a few days after you bought it, not months later. You'd still have access until your year was up though, if you just stop the auto-renew.

How does Grammarly compare to something like ProWritingAid? I've used PWA for a while but thinking about switching, is Grammarly better for creative writing or just academic/business stuff?

M Megan Marsh 2 months ago
For creative writing, PWA might have a slight edge with some of its style suggestions, but Grammarly is generally more robust for catching grammar and readability issues across the board. The tone detector is pretty cool too.

I found Grammarly to be better for general use, especially with the browser extension. PWA felt a bit clunkier. For academic, Grammarly easily wins for me. For creative, it depends on what you're looking for, but the basic grammar checks are solid in both.

Wondering if there's any way to get Grammarly Premium for free, or at least a big discount. I saw something about referral bonuses?

D Daisy Marsh 2 months ago
Free premium usually only happens with some kind of short trial, or sometimes schools offer it. For discounts, yeah, keep an eye out for seasonal sales like Black Friday or Back to School, they usually have good deals then. Student discounts are a thing too.

There's no truly 'free for life' premium that I know of. The referral bonus can get you some credits, but it's not like a full free sub. Best bet is hitting one of their big sales, like the 50% off they sometimes do.
